You probably don't notice most of the other corners that animators have to cut because you are less tuned to looking for them (for instance larger body movements, subtleties in animal or creature movements). The more realistic games get, the more those tiny things stand out as unrealistic (sort of like an animation uncanny valley). This is just something we all 'know' subconsciously and it was very important to our evolution that we could notice that sort of thing well. Is the mouth too hard to properly animate at this time? Body and facial animation is usually on point, but I can't think of a single game off of the top of my head that nails speech animation. Every character in this game is guilty of this as far as I have seen. The thing that removes the immersion for me is how the mouths almost never match up with their speech. Lucas's eyes and eyebrows are great during his scene in the television. Mia follows you around with her head and eyes while you move around. The setting, the music, the lighting, etc., is fantastic in my opinion.
